Brown Butter Applesauce Loaf
With a delicious streusel topping and the perfect soft crumb, this is an easy dessert that’s perfect for a cozy night in or for starting the morning with a bang!
Ingredients
Bread Batter
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup peeled and grated apple
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Streusel Topping
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 pinches ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 2 tbsp butter melted
- 1/4 cup oats
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325° and coat a standard loaf pan with a little butter and flour.
- Brown the butter in a small pot on medium to low heat, remove from the heat, and allow to cool.
- Make the batter by combining granulated sugar, brown sugar, applesauce, and grated apple.
- Add in flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and nutmeg, stir until combined.
- Then add in egg & brown butter, stir until just combined and pour batter into your prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, combine all streusel ingredients and sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake for 60-75 minutes until a knife comes out clean when inserted into the center of the loaf.
- Allow to cool slightly, transfer to a wire rack, slice and enjoy!
